BEYOND RED WHiTE and BLUE
Quilts prove mending and transformation are possible. The 2016 election cycle radically changed my understanding of the power of art to connect us through shared experiences of seeing and understanding. I began tearing strips of fabric to process complex feelings of grief for our divided country. Those strips became stripes and soon I was making American flags with colors and patterns chosen to imagine a more inclusive and connected future by connecting color and pattern across period and place.
